‘There has never been an easy game’: Arne Slot rubbishes claim of Liverpool having easy run to Premier League title | Football News

There have been detractors of Liverpool’s imminent Premier League title triumph who have been saying that the Merseyside club had an easy road to the trophy. But manager Arne Slot rubbished those opinions saying that there are no easy games in the top flight of English football.
“I think it has never been so exciting for a top-four, top-five finish. The year before, it was quite clear which clubs would probably get the first three or four positions. It’s never been as hard to end up top four or top five in the Premier League,” he said.
“In my opinion, it’s a really difficult league because that’s what I’ve experienced over here. There has never been an easy game. It has always been really hard to win a game of football, but maybe that tells you something about us. Although we aren’t the only team in this league who finds it hard to win a game of football a margin of three or four goals. That was maybe easier two, three, four, five years ago. So either the teams aren’t so good anymore — the Liverpools, the Citys, the Arsenals — or we are still very good and the other teams have the funds to spend just as much, or in some situations even more, than Arsenal, City and Liverpool,” he added.

Slot is the set to become the first Dutch manager to lift the Premier League with Liverpool, with the club needing just 1 point against Tottenham on Sunday to seal their 20th league title. They have won 24 of its 33 games so far and are sitting at 79 points, 12 above 2nd placed Arsenal.

“We are aware of the fact the last time this club won the league, it was Covid time. So everyone is looking forward to Sunday. But we know there is still a job to be done. And that’s one point,” Slot said.
