‘There will be bombing’: Trump threatens Iran to ‘make’ nuclear deal or face consequences | World News

US President Donald Trump Sunday warned that Iran could face bombing and secondary tariffs if it does not come to an agreement over nuclear negotiations in the coming days, as per news agency Reuters.
In a telephonic interview with NBC News, Trump said that US and Iran’s officials are talking but did not elaborate on the details.  This is his first reaction since Iran rejected Washington’s proposal for direct negotiations last week.
“If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing. It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before,” Trump was quoted as saying.

He further warned Tehran of the secondary tariff and said: “There’s a chance that if they don’t make a deal, that I will do secondary tariffs on them like I did four years ago.”

Trump had written a letter to Tehran and urged the country to negotiate and finalise a nuclear deal, but Iran in its response to the letter through Oman, conveyed to Washington that its policy was to not engage in direct negotiations with the United States via pressure tactics.
On Sunday, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated the policy of his country and said “Direct negotiations (with the U.S.) have been rejected, but Iran has always been involved in indirect negotiations, and now too, the Supreme Leader has emphasized that indirect negotiations can still continue,” Reuters quoted.
Other than military threats of bombing the country, Trump also issued warnings of imposing secondary tariffs on Iran which affect buyers of a country’s goods. Trump signed the secondary tariffs order against Venezuela last week.Story continues below this ad
During his term as president between 2016-2020, Trump had withdrawn the United States from a deal signed in 2015 between Iran and world powers that placed strict limits on Tehran’s controversial nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.
