Thomas Muller set to leave Bayern Munich after 25 years at club

Thomas Muller, who has been part of Bayern Munich’s squad for over 25 years, announced his decision on Saturday to part ways with the German club at the end of the season, in July. With his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, the midfielder saw his playing time under Vincent Kompany reduce significantly.
“Today is not like any other day for me”, said Muller, and that his “25 years as an FC Bayern Munich player will come to an end in the summer”. Muller also mentioned that the club opted not to offer him a new contract and that the situation is ‘not what he had wished’.
“This decision was extremely hard”, said Chroph Freund, Bayern Sporting Director, who also praised Muller’s instinct and reading of the game.
