Three teams disqualified in women’s relay | Sport-others News

There was much drama after a thrilling photo-finish in the women’s 4x100m relay as Unnathi Aiyappa of Karnataka and Giridharani R of Tamil Nadu battled for the gold medal in the final leg.
Karnataka won the gold with a timing of 46.99s ahead of Tamil Nadu (47.01s). However, minutes later, Tamil Nadu, along with Odisha and Uttarakhand, were disqualified for wrong baton exchange.
The technical committee deemed that athletes of these three teams started incorrectly while exchanging the baton in the second exchange. But the Tamil Nadu team claimed that the line official had asked them to step back resulting in a false start.

They lodged an official protest, resulting in a delay in the presentation ceremony, but the Athletics Federation of India jury rejected the appeal.
