Top Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar targeted in Gaza hospital strike Israel, say reports | World News

The Israeli military jets bombed a hospital in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis on Tuesday evening, and targeted top Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar, reports have claimed. Mohammed Sinwar reportedly became the de facto leader of the militant group after the Israel army killed his brother, Yahya Sinwar in October 2024.
The Israeli military said that it struck a Hamas command centre underneath a European Hospital near Khan Younis but the Israeli military spokesperson declined to confirm if Sinwar was targeted in the attack. The Gaza health minry stated that at least six people were killed in the Israeli strike and around 40 others were wounded.
According to Dr. Saleh Al Hams, head of the nursing, multiple airstrikes Israeli forces hit the hospital’s yard. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it targeted “Hamas terrors in a command and control center” in an underground structure beneath the hospital.

Several videos of the site suggested plumes of smoke and dust which signalled one of the largest strikes Israel in Gaza in recent weeks. The Israeli offensive had stopped for sometime earlier to provide a safe passage to Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander, who was released Hamas in a goodwill gesture towards US President Donald Trump.

However, contrary to reports claiming targeted attack Israel on Sinwar, Hamas in a statement said “The Palestinian resance alone, through its official platforms, is the authority authorized to confirm or deny what is published,” CNN reported.
