Devdutt Padikkal slams ton for Karnataka s TN
Varun Chakaravarthy’s Tamil Nadu have been punished with a huge score from Karnataka after opting to bowl first. BR Sharath and Mayank Agarawal powered Karnataka to a superb start, with a 69-run partnership in just 33 balls for the first wicket. However, it was southpaw Devdutt Padikkal who lit up the innings, starting his knock with a first-ball six off left-arm pacer T Natarajan over mid-wicket.
Padikkal then motored to his third Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy century in no time, clobbering nearly half of his runs from Natarajan (45 off 17 deliveries). The left-hander finished unbeaten on 102 as Karnataka vaunted to 245 for three – their second-highest SMAT total.
Tendulkar picks three for Goa
Arjun Tendulkar had an impressive time with the ball yet again, chipping in with three wickets. But that did not stop Madhya Pradesh from putting on a challenging total. Led Harpreet Bhatia’s long-waging unbeaten 80 off 52 balls, MP have mustered 170/6 in 20 overs. Tendulkar, though, remained the pick of the Goan bowlers, regering figures of 3/36 in four overs.
