Tron Ares trailer: Jared Leto unleashes chaos in real world, Jeff Bridges set to return | Hollywood News

The makers of Disney’s Tron: Ares have released the film’s first full trailer just two days after the teaser premiered at CinemaCon. The Joachim Rønning directorial will officially mark the end of a 15-year-long wait since Tron: Legacy was released in 2010. The upcoming movie is the third chapter in the Tron universe. The film is set to be released on October 10, 2025, and features Jared Leto in the lead role. Jeff Bridges, who headlined the original 1982 Tron, will be reprising his role as Kevin Flynn. You’ll catch his voice in the trailer, warning, ‘Ready? Because there’s no going back.’

The trailer begins with the first look at Ares, played Jared Leto, an advanced computer program from the digital world known as The Grid. In the video, Ares and other programs are seen riding Light Cycles, and as they speed, their light trails slice through everything in their path, including police cars.

The most exciting part of the trailer is probably how it shows the digital world colliding with the real world. “I’m looking for something… something I do not understand,” says the voiceover. Though his character, Kevin Flynn, does not appear physically, we hear Jeff Bridges’ voice at the end of the trailer.
The trailer also introduces the rest of the cast, featuring Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Gillian Anderson, and Hasan Minhaj. An important detail to note: Evan Peters plays Julian Dillinger, a character who shares the last name of David Warner’s Ed Dillinger from the original film, hinting at some family connection or legacy.

Directed Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), the film is produced Jared Leto, Sean Bailey, Steven Lisberger (who was involved in the original Tron), and Emma Ludbrook.
“It’s really unbelievable to think we made the original in 1982. We never thought we would have this legacy that’s continued on all these years,” Jeff Bridges said during the 2024 D23 Expo. Jared Leto, while taking centre stage at CinemaCon, shared how he loved the Tron films as a kid, saying, “Well, first off, as a kid, I was obsessed with Tron. It was the ‘80s, and the future felt like it was just around the corner. Tron had action, adventure, spandex — lots of spandex.” Leto added that the movie would be exciting for fans of the original Tron film. He promised, “This movie will hit you right in the grid.”
