US President Donald Trump has posted his first remarks since the House Democrats released emails that question the Republican leader’s ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and how much he knew about the abuse of underage girls Epstein as three emails released the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee claimed Trump “knew about the girls” and spent “hours” at his house with one of Epstein’s victims.

The White House quickly defended the president and stated that Democrats have selectively leaked the email to smear President Trump. The disclosure in the email certainly raises new questions about Trump’s friendship with the deceased sex offender and about what knowledge the president must have had regarding Epstein’s abuse of underage girls.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again because they’ll do anything at all to deflect on how badly they’ve done on the Shutdown, and so many other subjects. Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap.”

The president also called on Republicans to avoid talking about Epstein and focus on reopening the federal government. “There should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused the Democrats!”

The version of the email released Democrats dates back to 2011 which restricted the name of the victim, however, the Republicans on the committee later said it was Virginia Giuffre, who had accused Epstein of arranging for her to have several sexual encounters with his rich and powerful friends. Epstein took his own life in 2019 in a Manhattan prison while awaiting trial on federal charges.

Trump has consently denied the allegations of him knowing about Epstein’s sex trafficking. Though the president has acknowledged that he and Epstein were once friends before having a fallout.
