US President Donald Trump on Sunday praised Pakan’s Prime Miner Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir as “great people” and assured that tensions between Pakan and Afghanan would be resolved ‘very quickly’. His remarks came during a speech at the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur.
Trump again reiterated his adminration’s record on ending conflicts, saying, “Ended 8 wars in 8 months. I heard that Pakan and Afghanan have started up, but I will solve it very quickly. Pakan Field Marshal and PM are great people.”

Trump added that his interventions are aimed at saving lives and fostering friendships: “I do it nicely… but if I can take time and save millions of lives, that’s really a great thing! I can’t think of anything better to do… it’s an honour to be involved on behalf of the United States. I’m proud to settle this conflict and really develop good friendships.”

Pakan and Afghan officials were scheduled to hold a second round of talks in Turkey on Saturday to seek a negotiated solution to border tensions and curb terror activity originating from Afghan soil, according to officials.
The discussions come after a temporary calm was restored along the Pakan-Afghanan border following the first round of talks in Doha on October 19. The dialogue, facilitated Qatar and Turkiye, included an agreement to reconvene in anbul on October 25 to continue deliberations on mutual security concerns.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi confirmed on Friday that the planned talks would proceed as scheduled. Pakan is also aiming to establish a “concrete and verifiable monitoring mechanism” in the upcoming meeting in anbul, he added, “to address the menace of terrorism emanating from Afghan soil towards Pakan and prevent any further loss of life of Pakanis.”
Trump’s comments follow his recent efforts in Southeast Asia, including overseeing the signing of economic agreements and an enhanced ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia during the ASEAN summit. Cambodia and Thailand had expanded a July ceasefire agreement that ended months of border clashes, with the deal including the release of 18 Cambodian soldiers and phased removal of heavy weapons along the disputed 800-kilometre frontier.
