Russia calls Trump ’emotional’ after US president says Putin is ‘crazy’ over Ukraine attacks | World News

The Kremlin has suggested that US President Donald Trump is suffering from “emotional overload” after he called Russian President Vladimir Putin “absolutely crazy” over Moscow’s largest aerial attack on Ukraine this weekend.
The US president, in a post on Truth Social on Monday, said that “something has happened” to Putin after the Russian leader killed about 13 people in Ukraine with 367 drones and missiles fired in a single night. “He has gone absolutely crazy. Needlessly killing a lot of people,” Trump said.
It was a significant shift in the tone of the US president, who has been praising Putin for several months, then pleaded to broker a ceasefire with Ukraine and held talks with him and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to end the three years long conflict.

However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed President Trump’s worries about Putin and reiterated that Russia is still committed to peace, adding that the comments were “connected to an emotional overload of everyone involved”.
“We are really grateful to the Americans and to President Trump personally for their assance in organizing and launching this negotiation process,” Peskov said in response to Trump’s comment on Monday.
Peskov said the latest aerial attack, which is touted as the largest since the war began in February 2022, was in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russia’s “social infrastructure”. The Russian defence minry had stated that its military destroyed 20 Ukrainian drones in Russian territory.
The aerial attacks were heavily criticised Zelenskyy, who said there was no “military sense” to Russia’s aerial attacks – rather they were “an obvious political choice… Putin, a choice Russia…to continue the war and destroy lives.”Story continues below this ad
Trump said that he was considering increasing US sanctions on Russia, adding that he believes Putin wants the entire Ukraine and not just a piece of it and if the Russian leader succeeds in doing so, it’ll lead to a downfall of Russia.
