Ukrainian Prime Miner Denys Shmyhal has confirmed his resignation, just a day after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy nominated First Deputy Prime Miner Yulia Svyrydenko to lead the government as part of a broader reshuffle.
Shmyhal announced his decision in a Telegram post on Monday, sharing a photo of his hand-written resignation letter.
“Thank you to our defenders who are holding the front and protecting Ukraine!” he wrote. “Thank you to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the trust! Thank you to the entire team for their tireless work for our country! Glory to Ukraine!”

It was on Monday when, Zelenskyy in a post on Facebook, nominated Svyrydenko, adding that he wanted to “renew” the country’s government.
The move, which would be the highest-level government shuffle since Russia’s invasion more than three years ago, needs to be approved a vote of Parliament, where Zelenskyy’s party has a majority.
The announcement followed months of escalating Russian drone and missile attacks on cities and setbacks on the battlefield, and as cease-fire talks pushed the Trump adminration have stalled.
