‘Umpire asked me how do you hit such long sixes’: Rohit Sharma on celebration after hitting fifty against Pakan | Cricket News
India captain Rohit Sharma blazed a 36-ball half-century to help his team race to a stunning victory against Pakan with almost 20 overs to spare.
The seven-wicket win in front of a crowd of more than 100,000 fans at Narendra Modi Stadium was India’s eighth consecutive victory over Pakan in World Cups in a streak that began in 1992.
Sharma scored 86 runs off 63 balls, including six fours and six sixes, as India finished with 192-3 in 30.3 overs.
Interestingly, after reaching his fifty, Sharma dished out a unique celebration where he showed his biceps to the umpire.
In a conversation with vice-captain Hardik Pandya, Sharma revealed the reason behind it and said, “Nothing much, they asked me how do you hit such long sixes. What is there in the bat, you must be having something. But I said no it is all in the muscles (laughs)”Most Read

On his terrific innings, he said, “I wanted to play my shots amd have been trying to bat like this for the past two years. Wickets are good and I want to play my shots and I know I missed out a hundred.”
Rohit Sharma fell 14 short of an eighth World Cup hundred — caught at midwicket off a slower delivery from Afridi. Iyer and Lokesh Rahul (19 not out) didn’t suffer any further hiccups, adding 36 runs for the unbeaten fourth wicket.
India leads with six points — ahead of New Zealand on net run-rate — after three straight wins. Pakan, after its first loss of the tournament, has four points from three games and is fourth in the points table.
