‘Joe Biden was taking sleep medication Ambien before debate with Trump,’ says son Hunter Biden | World News

Former US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden has said that his father’s disastrous debate performance against President Donald Trump in June last year was a result of him taking sleep medication Ambien due to his travel schedule. Joe Biden’s debate led to the Democratic leader stepping aside as presidential candidate after rumblings within his own party.
During a three-hour interview with YouTube creator Andrew Callaghan which aired on Monday, Hunter raised the issue of ex-President Biden taking sleep medication Ambien which hasn’t been previously reported. “I’ll tell you what, I know exactly what happened in that debate,” Hunter said.
“He (Joe Biden) flew around the world, basically the mileage he could have flown around the world three times. He’s 81 years old. He’s tired as shit,” Hunter said. The former president’s son further added “They give him Ambien to be able to sleep. He gets up on the stage and he looks like he’s a deer in the headlights.”

Joe Biden prepared for the debate at Camp David with his aides for several days last year, and prior to being at Camp David, the Democrat leader took two European trips and was on the US West Coast for the fund raiser.
Biden’s live debate performance against Trump was termed as sluggish, with a quiet, raspy voice and meandering answers which took the viewers surprise and a backlash started within the Democratic Party for Biden to step aside from the presidential race.
Hunter Biden also criticised prominent Hollywood donor to Democrats, George Clooney, who in an op-ed in the New York Times last year had urged Joe Biden to withdraw his nomination from the presidential run due to concern over his age and fitness. “What do you have to do with anything?” said Hunter on Clooney.
