(AP Photo)US-Iran Tensions Live Updates:  US President Donald Trump said he expects to decide within the “next 10 days” whether the United States will reach an agreement with Iran, as tensions remain high. Speaking in Washington during a meeting of his Board of Peace, Trump said talks could either lead to a deal or move in another direction. At the same time, Iran carried out military drills in the Strait of Hormuz, while US Vice President JD Vance said Tehran has not accepted key US conditions.
What Trump said about the possible US–Iran deal: Trump told reporters that discussions are ongoing and a decision is close. “So now we may have to take it a step further, or we may not. Maybe we’re going to make a deal, you’re going to be finding out over the next probably 10 days,” he said. He added that the US wants to ensure Iran does not develop a nuclear weapon. Vance said one of the president’s “red lines” is clear: “The Iranians cannot have a nuclear weapon.”Story continues below this ad
How tensions escalated as Iran held military drills: As diplomatic talks continued, Iran temporarily closed the Strait of Hormuz for live fire exercises and launched missiles during the drills, according to Iranian media reports. The move drew attention because the waterway is a key global oil route. Meanwhile, Polish Prime Miner Donald Tusk urged Polish citizens to leave Iran immediately, saying that “under no circumstances anyone should be travelling to that country.”
