US Justice Department files motion in court to release Epstein grand jury documents | World News

The US Justice Department asked a court in the Southern Drict of New York to release the grand jury transcripts related to deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein at the directions of President Donald Trump, after the issue created a furor among the Trump and Make America Great Again (MAGA) supporters over the adminration’s handling of records while demanding transparency in the matter.
The move the Justice Department to unseal the transcripts of the grand jury in the Epstein case comes a day after a Wall Street Journal story put a spotlight on Trump’s relationship with Epstein as the Trump adminration is tapping through all the possible ways to contain the growing controversy revolving around Epstein files.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche filed the motion in the court to release the unsealed transcripts from the grand jury in Epstein case, along with the case against British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of luring teenage girls to be sexually abused Epstein.

The justice department, in its filing on Friday, said it was motivated to ask for the reversal of the convention in the jury transcripts due to intense public interest in the Epstein case.
“Public officials, lawmakers, pundits, and ordinary citizens remain deeply interested and concerned about the Epstein matter. Notably, the privacy interests at stake on the other side of the balance are substantially diminished due to Epstein’s death,” the motion filed the Justice Department stated.
MAGA supporters had criticized Attorney General Pam Bondi for her stance to not release the Epstein files and for staying away from transparency in the matter. President Trump earlier asked Bondi to release “whatever is possible” in the Epstein case and alleged that claims of his name appearing in the Epstein case were made up Comey, Obama, and Biden.
