Vaccine biggest weapon against Covid: CM

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that vaccine is the biggest weapon against Corona. In the third wave it became clear that as a result of wide coverage of vaccination in the state, the people of the state did not face dire situations.

“I request children in the age group of 12 to 14 years and their parents to get vaccinated at the earliest so that in case of possibility of fourth wave, adults as well as children are protected from Corona infection,” he said.

It is the endeavor of the state government to ensure that children remain safe and can attend school, pursue sports activities and lead a normal life without fear.

Chouhan was addressing the Covid-19 vaccination campaign launch programme for children of 12 to 14 years in the state. In the programme organised at Government New Higher Secondary School, Arera Colony, Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang, MLA Krishna Gaur, Additional Chief Secretary Health Suleman, Commissioner Health Sudam Khade, Mission Director Sushri Priyanka Das and other officers were present.

Chouhan said that 30 lakh children would be vaccinated in the campaign. This vaccination will be done in identified schools and government health institutions. Chouhan thanked Prime Minister Modi for starting vaccination of children.

The Chief Minister also released a table book published by Clinton Health Foundation on the struggle and successes of Covid in the state, titled “Jan-Bhagidari se Jan-Kalyan : Madhya Pradesh Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign”. The Chief Minister released a FAQs booklet focusing on commonly asked questions regarding Covid vaccination of children of 12 to 14 years.

Chouhan said that today Martyrs’ Day is a day to remember the valor and martyrdom of Amar Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. Chief Minister Chouhan said that when he took oath as the Chief Minister on March 23, two years ago, the entire state was facing difficult situations and challenges. Under the able leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state overcame Corona with public participation.

So far 11 crore 44 lakh people have been given first, second and precautionary doses due to an intensive campaign for vaccination along with the manufacture of vaccine by the Task Force constituted by Prime Minister Modi. Of these, 13.03 lakh doses have been administered to healthcare workers, 13.62 lakh doses to frontline workers and 10.48 crore doses to people above 18 years of age and 69.63 lakh doses to people in the 15-17 age group.

Overcoming all the challenges in the state, vaccination of more than 95 percent eligible beneficiaries above 15 has been completed.

Chouhan also interacted with the children after launching their vaccination programme. He asked whether anyone is afraid to get the vaccine. On this the children enthusiastically and fearlessly agreed to get vaccinated. Appreciating the enthusiasm and courage of the children to get the vaccine, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that this vaccine is completely safe. This will not cause any problem.
