Video: To escape challan, MP driver drags traffic cop on car bonnet for 4km
A traffic policeman in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore threw himself on top of a car’s bonnet – and was carried for nearly four kilometres, he claimed – after the driver tried to escape without paying a fine for talking on a mobile phone while driving the vehicle. CCTV footage of the incident has been widely shared on social media. This happened at a busy traffic signal in the city and shows the cop hanging on to the car for dear life as the driver speeds off.
“I stopped a man who was driving the car while talking on the phone. I asked him to pay the challan but he refused to pay and tried to flee the spot…I climbed on the bonnet of his car and he dragged me for about 4 km,” Shiv Singh Chauhan told news agency ANI.Chauhan also said that during routine checks a pol and live cartridges were recovered from the driver’s possession, who has been identified as Keshav Upadhyay, a resident of Gwalior.A case has been regered against the man and an investigation is underway.
