Virat Kohli: ‘I’ll sign the petition to name Jasprit Bumrah eighth wonder of the world’ | Cricket News
At Team India’s felicitation in front of a packed Wankhede Stadium, Virat Kohli was asked if he would sign a petition to call Jasprit Bumrah a national treasure and the eighth wonder of the world.
The former Indian captain and the player of the match of the T20 World Cup final was quick to respond, “I’ll sign the petition now.”
Kohli heaped praise of India’s player of the tournament, who snapped 15 wickets to help architect India’s first ICC tournament win in 11 years. “Let him decide what he wants to do with his schedule. We want him to play as long as possible. He’s a once in a generation bowler and we’re so glad he plays for us,” Kohli said.

Not only did Bumrah struck with the ball on a consent basis, but his economy rate from eight games at the World Cup was 4.18. In the final, Bumrah snapped two wickets from his quota of four overs, conceding only 18 runs.
Kohli praised the India speedster for bringing India back into the contest from a tough equation. “I am sure like, everyone in this stadium, we also felt that – man, is it going to slip away? What I want everyone do is – applaud a guy, who brought us back in the tournament again, and again, and again,” Kohli said.
With 30 runs required for South Africa to clinch the final from the final five overs, Rohit Sharma introduced Jasprit Bumrah back into the attack. In his third over during the final, Bumrah conceded a mere four runs before wrapping up his spell with a two-run over that also saw the dismissal of Marco Jansen to put further pressure on the Proteas.
Having won his first T20 World Cup, and India’s first World Cup in 13 years, Kohli said, “I couldn’t connect with the emotions of the seniors, who cried that night (after the 2011 World Cup triumph), but now I do.”
