Virat Kohli on close friend Sunil Chhetri’s retirement: ‘He’s at peace” | Ipl News

Virat Kohli on Friday opened up about the discussion he had with Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri before the latter announced his decision to retire from the sport on Thursday.
“He (Chhetri) is a really great player. He actually messaged me as well informing that he’s going to do that. But I would actually say I felt like he is at peace with the decision, I have become very close with him over the years and I wish the best. He is a lovely, lovely guy,” Kohli said in a video posted  Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
In another video,  the 35-year-old cricketer had also opened up about his own post-retirement plans.
“So, it’s just about not leaving any undone business behind and not having any regrets later, which I’m very sure of I won’t. Once I’m done, I’ll be gone; you won’t see me for a while,” he said.
The right-handed batter is in scintillating form this season, and he continues to lead the scoring charts with a mind-boggling 661 runs from 13 games for RCB.
Kohli has featured in 113 Tests, 292 ODIs, and 117 T20Is. he has amassed over 26,000 international runs across formats.
Kohli holds the record for most runs in the hory of T20 World Cups with 1141 to his credit.
India will be hoping that Kohli must carry his red-hot form in the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will be his sixth appearance in the tournament.
India are in Group A of the tournament, alongside arch-rivals Pakan, Ireland, Canada and co-hosts USA.
India will began their T20 World Cup campaign on June 5 against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York before taking on Pakan on June 9.
