Virat Kohli says Rohit Sharma and him were often on same page on gut feel of cricket situations

Their fanbases that go with the numbers 18 and 45 are often sniping away at each other, and a ‘Ro-Ko’ (stop) vibe and narrative has defined all chatter on them. But speaking like a statesman on their Ro-Ko bond ahead of Mumbai Indians hosting Royal Challengers Bangalore at Wankhede, Virat Kohli shared details of their equation which seemed pretty ‘Ko-Shar’.
“I think it’s a very natural thing to take place with someone you are playing for so long and you share so much of your insights of the game initially. You are learning from each other. You are kinda growing in your careers at probably the same time,” Kohli told RCB socials speaking about Rohit Sharma.
It boiled down to trading ideas for Team India which brought both fair amount of success, with a World Cup final, a Champions Trophy win and a T20 World title. “And you share all kinds of queries, questions. So there’s a lot of back and forth that happens and also there is how we worked very closely in terms of leadership for the team. So there were always ideas discussed. And more or less we would end up on the same page in terms of what is the gut feel if that particular situation. Or what that particular game demands. There’s a trust factor that builds in terms of you can rely on each other, do the job for the team,” Kohli told RCB.

He added that their respective longevity was a result of this equation, though at the beginning both wouldn’t have known that the slightly competitive and more collaborative equation would go on this long.
“We have definitely enjoyed our time playing together for India. We were able to make our careers that long,” Kohli said, adding, “Because when we were young it was not that certain that we will end up playing for 15 years for India on this journey for so long and consently. So yeah I’m very grateful and happy for all the memories, small moments that we have shared and continue to do so,” Kohli ended.
ViRo (braves) might be a better hyphenation for the two ace batters in white ball cricket than Ro-Ko.
RCB also hyped the game as a battle between two brothers, Krunal Pandya and MI skipper Hardik, though the stick-glue fan armies of Kohli and Sharma might not see anything beyond the two India stars, who Kohli stressed actually shared a deep bond that’s come out gleaming from the furnace of rivalries.
