MS Dhoni links up with Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2024 | Cricket News

Mahendra Singh Dhoni finally joined up with his Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings, a social media post the franchise revealed on Tuesday.
“#THA7A Dharisanam! 🦁💛 #DenComing,” the X post was captioned. It’s been a whirlwind last couple of days for the former Indian captain with the 42-year-old attending the gala Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant pre-wedding celebrations at Gujarat’s Jamnagar before making his way to Chennai.
On Monday, the 42-year-old had sent the rumour mills abuzz claiming that a “new role” awaits him in the “new season” in a viral social media post.

The former India captain, who led the Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL title last season, however, neither mentioned the league nor elaborated on the new role, leaving everyone guessing.
“Can’t wait for the new season and the new ‘role’. Stay tuned!,” Dhoni wrote in a rare social media post on Facebook.
Last year, the 42-year-old mostly came out to bat towards the fag end of CSK innings. He has not yet clarified on whether he will captain CSK in IPL 2024.

At the post-match ceremony after winning the final last year, Dhoni was asked if he will retire on a high, but the Ranchi dasher, in his inimitable style, deflected the query saying that it would amount to taking an easy way out.

He went on to add that he would try to come back next season as CSK captain if his body allowed him.

CSK are set to take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their tournament opener on March 22. They will then take on Gujarat Titans in a repeat of last year’s IPL final on March 26 and then travel to Delhi to play against Delhi Capitals on March 31. They’ll then complete their phase one tour with a trip to Hyderabad to take on the SunRisers.
