Al Nassr fans have shown heartwarming support to their Portuguese superstar Criano Ronaldo after chanting his name in the 7th minute of Al Nassr’s thrilling 4-4 draw against Al Hazm in the Saudi Pro league.
The gesture has come as a support to the star player after he was handed a suspension for obscene signals during the Al Nassr’s previous clash against Al Shabab.
Leading his teammates after an away win, Ronaldo responded to the home fans chanting the name of his arch nemesis Lionel Messi directing an obscene gesture at them which is currently being investigated the Saudi football federation’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee and handed the 39-year-old one match game.

Not the first time
It isn’t the first time that Ronaldo has been irked fans displaying approval of Messi at one of his games. The Portuguese had also sparked a controversy last year following a defeat to Al-Hilal, responding to opposition fans waving Messi shirts putting his hand in his genital area and pulling upwards in another video that did rounds on social media.
Even in recent times, the Al Nassr captain’s relationship with the Saudi fans has been anything but smooth. Walking back to the ground tunnel following a loss in the Riyadh Season Cup final, the Portuguese had made the headlines for all the wrong reasons after an Al-Hilal shirt was hurled his way.
Having arrived in Saudi after his second stint at Manchester United turned sour in late 2022, Ronaldo has been vocal about his move to the Middle East, going as far as suggesting that football in the country is “more quality” than many leagues in Europe.

Ronaldo has been ageing like a fine wine as the star had another productive season. He is at the top of the goal scoring charts with 22 goals and nine asss.
Howerver, after 22 match days Al Nassr (53 points) is nine points behind arch-rivals Al-Hilal (62 points) who are at the top of the table.
