WATCH: Harmanpreet Kaur pulls off a stunning one-handed catch in first ODI against West Indies | Cricket News
She is no stranger to taking blinders, and India captain Harmanpreet Kaur added one more to her collection of special catches in the first ODI against West Indies in Vadodara on Sunday.
Already tottering at 26/4 while chasing 315, the West Indies were in need of some big shots to ease the pressure. In the 11th over, Aaliyah Alleyne decided to take on Renuka Singh Thakur down the ground, and must have thought she had managed to get herself a boundary.
But standing at mid-on, Harmanpreet had other ideas. She timed her jump to perfection to pluck the ball with her right hand. A stunning catch the Indian captain, and it was followed equally stunned reactions all around – the batter couldn’t believe it, neither could Renuka, and even players in the Windies dugout were left with hands on their hands.

Earlier in the day, Smriti Mandhana extended her purple patch with a classy 91 off 102 balls, propelling India to 314/9. Mandhana has now recorded a 50-plus score for the fifth straight innings for India (a century in Australia, three T20I fifties against WI and now this). The launch pad was provided Mandhana, alongside debutant Pratika Rawal who rode her luck early to score a decent 40. Then middle-order showed good intent post the 30 overs mark.
Harmanpreet (34 off 23), Harleen Deol (44 off 50), Richa Ghosh (26 off 12), and Jemimah Rodrigues (31 off 19) all played with good intent in the back end.
