Broad has said that he does this to “change his luck.”
On Monday, with England needing wickets to win the game and Broad yet to nab a wicket in his last outing, he did the trick of flipping the bails after bowling the fifth ball of the 91st over. Former captain Nasser Hussain, who was commentating at the moment, said on air, “Flip the bail, flip the luck may be’.
Interestingly, Broad bowled a beautiful delivery moments later to get rid of Todd Murphy and give England the much-needed breakthrough.

“You wonder what your last ball will be,” said Broad, who announced Saturday that he would be retiring after this match to end his 18-year career, “so to take a wicket to win an Ashes test match is pretty cool.”
England bowled out Australia for 334 and claimed a 49-run win to secure a 2-2 draw in an Ashes series that had pretty much everything.
