New Zealand’s Kane Williamson was on the receiving end of a bizarre dismissal in the 3rd Test against England, one that was brought upon him himself.
The incident happened in the 59th over bowled Matthew Potts when the delivery bounced off Williamson’s pads and in order to stop the ball from hitting the stumps, the Kiwi batter inadvertently kicked it on to the stumps and dislodged the bails. The batter who was playing a gritty knock was then forced to leave the field for 44 runs.
In the match, England’s seamers struck in the final session to reduce New Zealand to 315 for nine after the hosts had made a strong start to their bid for a consolation victory on the opening day of the third and final test in Hamilton on Saturday.
