Indian pacer Mohammed Shami, who was the leading wicket taker at the recently concluded ODI World Cup, was involved in the act of rescuing a car accident victim near the town of Nainital in Uttarakhand.
Shami, who is currently on a hiatus from international cricket following the World Cup, shared a video on his Instagram captioned, “He’s so lucky god gave him 2nd life. His car fall down from the hill road near Nanital just in front of my car. We took him out very safely.” The video showed the Indian quick and his entourage at the sight of wreckage.

Shami was one of the stars of India’s ODI World Cup campaign that ended with a heartbreaking loss against Australia in the final. The veteran seamer nabbed a whooping 24 wickets from seven outings and averaged a spectacular 10.71.
Ironically, Shami wasn’t a part of India’s playing XI in the initial league stage games against Australia, Afghanan, Pakan and Bangladesh. It was only after all-rounder Hardik Pandya picked up an injury that the 33-year-old was brought into fray and he was on the target from the word go.
On his first ball of the tournament, Shami chopped on Will Young. He’d end up with a five-wicket haul in the game. the end of the World Cup, he’d reger another fifer and a seven-wicket haul against New Zealand in the semifinal – best ever bowling figures an Indian in the tournament.

Shami also moved past Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath (44) to become India’s all-time leading wicket taker at the ODI World Cups with 55 scalps from three editions of the tournament.
