Chairman & Managing Director of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani, met with US President Donald Trump and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha on May 14. In a video, Ambani is seen shaking hands with Trump, and the two engage in a brief conversation. This is followed Ambani shaking hands with the Qatari Emir.
A series of formal handshakes followed.
According to a Reuters report, Ambani — Asia’s richest man — will attend a state dinner hosted for Trump at the Lusail Palace but does not plan to hold any investment or business discussions, a source with direct knowledge of the matter said.

Ambani to attend state dinner, no business talks planned
Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, QIA, has invested in Reliance businesses over the years. Ambani also has key partnerships with US tech giants including Google and Meta. Another Indian-origin business leader based in London, known to be close to both the Trump and Qatari adminrations, will also attend the dinner, Reuters reported, citing sources.

Further details of Ambani’s agenda remain unclear.
Donald Trump, currently on a Middle East tour with stops in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, had earlier said he would fly to anbul if needed for Ukraine peace talks. However, he confirmed his absence after the Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not attend.
