Djokovic wouldn’t shy away from praising his opponent in his post-match address, a humorous exchange with the reference of another Spanish nemesis to the Serb.
“Boy, you never give up man. Jesus Chr. I love that about you. But sometimes I wish you’d maybe play a few points like this,” he said. Alcaraz, smiling near him, would respond to the same with, “Spanish never die.”
“I’ve heard that before. Or I’ve experienced this before,” pat came the response from Djokovic.
While Alcaraz is the current holder of the men’s US Open and Wimbledon title, Djokovic won the Australian and French Open this year to surpass Nadal’s total grand slam count of 22.
