Prithvi Shaw’s debut for Northamptonshire ended in an bizarre fashion as he was out hit wicket after scoring 34 against Gloucestershire.
Gloucestershire bowler Paul van Meekeren bowled a bumper which caught Shaw off guard and he couldn’t keep his balance. While going to ground, the Delhi Capitals batter inadvertently kicked his stumps down resulting in his dismissal.
The batter had a woeful IPL 2023 campaign and was dropped midway through the competition his franchise.

A few days ago, Shaw had started his county stint with Northamptonshire in red-hot fashion, scoring 65 off 39 Balls in an intra-squad match.
In a video shared Northamptonshire which was captioned, “Getting straight down to business. A rapid 65 off just 39 balls for Prithvi in the 2XI this morning,” Shaw can be seen smacking the ball in different directions.
Northamptonshire had announced Shaw’s arrival for his maiden stint in the English county circuit through Twitter on Monday.
“It’s a great opportunity for me and I’m really thankful to Northamptonshire for giving me this chance to express myself here,” Shaw was quoted as saying in a media release.
“It’s going to be amazing I think and I’m really looking forward to it.” Shaw last played for India on the tour of Sri Lanka in July 2021, and was part of the squad for the T20Is at home against New Zealand earlier this year.
