Watch: Rinku Singh hits hat-trick of sixes to win it for Meerut Maverick in UP T20 League | Cricket News

Rinku Singh lived up to the reputation that had preceded him to the middle as he smashed hat-trick of sixes in the Super Over to help his team Meerut Maverick reger a win over Kashi Rudras in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh T20 league.
It has been four months since he muscled himself into their cricket consciousness with a five-ball-five-six he for Kolkata Knight Riders against Gujarat Titans. Since then Rinku had made his international debut, where he blasted 38 off 21 balls against Ireland in the secind T20I, the only opportunity he got to bat.

Batting first, Meerut Mavericks posted 181 for 7 in 20 overs. In reply, Kashi Rudras also scored 181 for 7. In the Super Over, Kashi Rudra plundered 16 runs. Meerut Mavericks, riding on Rinku Singh’s blitzkrieg romped home with two balls to spare.

The memory of his six-hitting remains, both fresh and sparkling. It shot him to overnight fame, but it could also mould into a burden. For every time he faces a ball, steams the hope of a six, and every time he does not hit one, there is a surge of disappointment. But Rinku, steeled life and the hardships that he endured to build a career, knows the fickleness of fanfare.
“These are two minutes of fame, yeh log joh aaj wah-wah kar rahe hai, wohi log kal gaali bhi denge, if I fail. (If I fail the same people will jeer me),” he had once told this newspaper.
