Earlier, former India captain Anil Kumble, who was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side that featured in the first ever IPL match in 2008, said, “Nobody thought something like this will start in 2008. For it to continue for so long. the players that have come, some of them haven’t played for India but have made a name for themselves. even for the overseas players to come and play here. The money that has come into the game…it has given a security to those who want to play the game. even the game has come far.”
The horic match featured teams on two contrasting ends of the points table. While Rajasthan have five wins off eight games and sit second, Mumbai have won three and lost four games this season and sit ninth in the 10-team table.
