Watch: Sachin Tendulkar presents Arjun Tendulkar with badge after MI’s match with SRH
Mumbai Indians’ Arjun Tendulkar scalped his first Indian Premier League wicket and defended 20 runs in the last over against Sunrisers Hyderabad as MI walked away with a 14-run vctory.
After the match, proud father Sachin Tendulkar, who is also the mentor of MI, presented Arjun with an badge of honour, as seen in a YouTube video released the Mumbai Indians. The badge is an honorary Player of the Match (POTM) honour which is a tradition of the Mumbai Indians locker room. So even though Cameron Green was the original POTM of the match, Arjun was awarded with a honorary badge for his contribution in the last over.
“A superb all-round performance Mumbai Indians once again. Cameron Green was impressed with both bat & ball. Ishan & Tilak’s batting is as good as it gets! The IPL is getting more interesting every day. Great going, boys! And finally a Tendulkar has an IPL wicket,” Sachin had written on Twitter after Arjun took the wicket of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
“Obviously it was great getting my first IPL wicket. I just had to focus on what was in hand, the plan and execute it,” Arjun had said after the game on the official broadcast.
“Our plan [in the last over] was just to bowl wide and get the long boundary [on the off side] into play, make the batsman hit it to the longer side,” he had added.
Following their third straight win of the season, MI players were also seen celebrating Arjun’s success. In a video shared Mumbai Indians on their Twitter, Arjun can be seen cutting the cake while the other players cheer for him.
