US President Donald Trump had announced Gold Card visa as a route to obtain American citizenship which would cost $5 million and now Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, in a podcast, claimed that US adminration has sold 1,000 gold card visas in a day.
During an “All-In Podcast” which aired on March 21, Commerce Secretary Lutnick claimed that there were 37 million people who were capable of buying the gold card visa and the Trump adminration believes they would be able to sell at least one million cards, generating $5 trillion in revenue.
“There are 37 million people in the world who are capable of buying the card…The president thinks we can sell a million,” Secretary Lutnick said while speaking on the podcast.

When Lutnick was asked who introduced the idea of gold card or “Trump Card” as it was referred to during the podcast, the commerce secretary responded saying it was President Trump’s idea, conceived during a meeting with investor John Paulson.

He said that he was taken in the loop the president in order to figure out how to do it. “Elon Musk is building the software right now,” Lutnick added during the conversation.

During the announcement of the gold card visa, President Trump envisioned that it would attract more wealthy people to America who would want to settle in the US, generating jobs and boosting employment.
“And wealthy people will be coming into our country buying this card. They’ll be wealthy, and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people, and we think it’s going to be extremely successful,” Trump had said, as quoted Fox News.
