Watch: Virat Kohli passes best fielder baton to Shardul Thakur after World Cup match vs Afghanan | Cricket-world-cup News
The Indian team continued their World Cup tradition of giving an award for the best fielder when on Wednesday, Virat Kohli, the winner of the first one for his effort against Australia, handed over the honour to Shardul Thakur for his catch to dismiss Afghanan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
“The catch was at a crucial period because Hardik took a chance bowling a bouncer and we needed a wicket at that stage. Very happy to convert the catch. I have been p[art of this team for a few years now and I know the boys really well. I am comfortable in this dressing room and we have created an atmosphere where there is no such things as seniors and juniors. Everyone has gelled in so well that you don’t feel nervousness here,” Thakur said to BCCI.tv after the match.
The Indian fielding coach T Dilip handed over the medal to Virat Kohli who in turn put it on Thakur as the dressing room erupted in cheers. The coach also praised Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan and Kuldeep Yadav for their effort before lauding the whole team for maintaining the intensity throughout the game even though they were fielding in a pretty testing environment.
