WCL 2025: Australia’s John Hastings bowls 18-ball over – with 12 wides and a no ball – against Pakan | Cricket News

The World Championship of Legends (WCL) game between Australia and Pakan came to a hilarious yet farcical end recently when all-rounder John Hastings bowled an 18-ball over, which included 12 wides and a no ball. The over ended with Hastings bowling just five legitimate deliveries as Australia lost the game 10 wickets.
Hastings was handed the ball Australia skipper Brett Lee with Pakan on 55/0 in seven overs, needing 20 more runs to win.
The Australian cricketer started his over bowling five consecutive wides to Sohaib Maqsood. At one point, the ball was so wide that even Pakan batter Maqsood gave the bowler a wry smile. “That swung a bit,” the commentator can be heard saying sarcastically.

Then, on the first legitimate ball from Hastings, Pakan batters ran a single. On his second legitimate delivery, Hastings was hit for a four Sharjeel Khan. Hastings then bowled a no ball, before bowling one more wide. On the free hit delivery, Hastings conceded one run via a leg e.
During the over, another commentator can be heard saying: “He seems to have forgotten what he has been doing… He can’t seem to bowl straight.”
Hastings bowled another wide followed a dot ball. On the fifth legitimate ball of the over, a single was taken. Hastings then proceeded to bowl five consecutive wides once again in the over as Pakan Champions won the game 10 wickets with 12.1 overs to spare.

The all-rounder has played one Test for Australia besides 29 ODIs and nine T20Is. He was drafted into the Australian Test team for the Perth Test against South Africa in 2012-13 when Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus were ruled out. He has also played in 75 First Class games.
