‘We live in an illusion, India humbled a West Indies side that failed to qualify for WC’: Venkatesh Prasad slams ordinary Indian team | Cricket News

West Indies defeated India eight wickets in the series-deciding fifth and final T20 International to win the series 3-2 on Sunday.

Suryakumar Yadav made a 45-ball 61 to guide India to 165 for nine against the West Indies in after opting to bat. Tilak Varma made 27 off 18 balls after India opted to bat first. For West Indies, Romario Shepherd (4/31) was the pick of the bowlers.
Chasing, West Indies rode on skipper Brandon King’s unbeaten 85 and Nicholas Pooran’s 47 to romp home comfortably in 18 overs.
However, this led to former India seamer Venkatesh Prasad slamming Hardik Pandya and head coach Rahul Dravid for the “ordinary” performance and also suggesting they are living in an illusion.
“India has been a very very ordinary limited overs side for sometime now. They have been humbled a West Indies side that failed to qualify for the T20 WC few months back. We had also lost to Ban in the ODI series. Hope they introspect instead of making silly statements,” Prasad tweeted.

“Not just 50 overs, West Indies had failed to qualify for the T20 World cup last Oct- Nov as well. It pains to see India perform poorly and brush it under the carpet, under the garb of process. That hunger, fire is missing and we live in an illusion,” he further said in response to a fan,” he added.
India won the third T20 seven wickets in Providence, Guyana, before the series moved to Florida. West Indies won the second T20, also at Providence Stadium, two wickets after the hosts also won the opener four runs in Tarouba, Trinidad.
