Rajasthan Royals coach Rahul Dravid rubbishes reports of rift with skipper Sanju Samson | Ipl News

Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid on Friday rubbished rumours of any rift with skipper Sanju Samson, saying that all these outside talks were baseless. The speculations about a rift had surfaced when a video went viral where in Rajasthan Royals’ match against the Delhi Capitals on Wednesday, Dravid was seen in a huddle with RR players deciding which batters would take strike in the Super Over. Skipper Samson was standing a little away from the huddle and when a RR player asked him to join in, he declined with a hand gesture.
“I don’t know where these reports are coming from. Sanju and I are on the same page,” Dravid said in a press conference ahead of Rajasthan’s match against Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday.
“He’s a very integral part of our team. He’s involved in each and every decision and discussion. Sometimes, when you lose games and things don’t go right, you face criticism and we can take it on our performances, but we can’t do anything about this baseless stuff. The spirit of the team is really good, I’m impressed with how hard these guys work. One of the things people don’t understand is how hurt the players feel when they don’t perform,” he added.

Samson had suffered a side strain in the match against Delhi and had to retire hurt, though he later said he was feeling “alright.”
The Royals will be desperate to plug the holes across departments and halt a three-match losing streak against LSG. With just two wins from seven games, the Royals are languishing at eighth on the table and come into the contest on the back of a gut-wrenching Super Over defeat to Delhi Capitals.
As the league hits the halfway mark, they’ll need to shake off the heartbreak quickly if they hope to upstage Rishabh Pant’s men and climb out of the bottom half.
