‘We want Lionel Messi, I have spoken to him’: Barcelona President

Barcelona “will do everything ” to bring Lionel Messi back to the spanish club this summer, their president Joan Laporta stated on Monday.
“We want Leo — we will not offer crazy figures for that or any other deal. We’ll try to make things work with viability plan, waiting for the approval,” Laporta was quoted as saying noted journal Fabrizio Romano.
“Where would Leo play? Up to Xavi, it’s never an issue with the best player in the world,” he added.
“I have spoken to Messi, we’ve recovered the relationship. It was very nice,” Laporta said.
“Al Hilal bid? Barça is Barça. This club can compete with everyone. In Arabia they are doing a good job and investing… but I ins, Barça is his home”, he told TV3 before adding “We want Leo”.

Barcelona are also prepared to extend Xavi’s contract. “There will be no problem. He’s a club man. He understands perfectly the circumstances of the club and that he deserves recognition from the club,” said Laporta.
Messi’s potential return to Barcelona is one of the most talked-about transfer news.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner left the Catalan club in 2021 after 21 years, joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
However, his time in Paris has not gone according to plan, and he has been linked with a move back to Barcelona ever since.
