‘What a spell’: Jasprit Bumrah praises Akash Madhwal, Anil Kumble says ‘welcome to the 5/5 club’

Jasprit Bumrah expressed his happiness with the performance of Akash Madhwal after the latter picked up a memorable five-wicket haul in the IPL 2023 Eliminator on Wednesday.
Madhwal’s figures of 5/5 helped Mumbai Indians eliminate Lucknow Super Giants with a thumping 81-run win on Wednesday.
Madhwal’s brilliant bowling and three bizarre run-outs saw Lucknow get bowled out for 101 with more than three overs to spare as Australian Marcus Stoinis top-scored with 40.
Mumbai, which won the toss and elected to bat in the knockout game, had scored 182/8.
“What a spell from Akash Madhwal. Congratulations @mipaltan, great win,” tweeted Bumrah.

Madhwal also received praise from former India cricketers Virender Sehwag, and Anil Kumble.
“Akash Madhwal 5 wickets in the eliminator after the 4 he took in the last league game which was a do or die game . Such a delight to see newcomers doing well. This is the season where many of the experience guys have had a great season and many newcomers have made a big mark. Congratulations Mumbai on an empathic win. Will they be the first team to win the IPL after finishing 4th in the league stage?” Sehwag wrote on Instagram.

Mumbai will now face defending champion Gujarat Titans on Friday with the winner advancing to Sunday’s final against Chennai Super Kings.
