‘What did you do wrong to go down the batting order?’: Nathan Lyon takes dig at KL Rahul for coming in at No.3 | Cricket News
With India’s staring down the barrel in the 4th Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, Australia players have started to have a bit of fun with the visitors. One of the instances was when Australia’s premier spinner Nathan Lyon took a dig at KL Rahul for coming at No.3 after the Indian management opted to start with captain Rohit Sharma as the opener with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
“What did you do wrong to go down the batting order?” Lyon asked sarcastically to Rahul who had been the opener on all three of the previous Tests of the series only to be shuffled down in favour of Rohit in the 4th one at Melbourne.
The move did not work for Rohit as he failed to spark back to form after recent failures at Brisbane and Adelaide, scoring just 3, marking his ninth single-digit dismissal since September. The 37-year-old averages a paltry 5.50 with the bat this series, the lowest among all players.

Rahul, meanwhile, scored 24 runs in 42 balls before getting sent back Pat Cummins. India would then look to steady themselves with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli adding 102 runs and looking comfortable just like they did in the Perth second innings.
But disaster struck once again as a mix-up in the middle caused Jaiswal to be run out and Kohli, whose concentration suffered a blow after Yashasvi’s wicket, also could not survive for long and was dismissed trying to play at a delivery outside the off stump.
Nightwatchman Akash Deep couldn’t put up a resance and was dismissed for 0 off a Scott Boland delivery with India reeling at 164/5 at the end of Day 2’s play.
India are still 310 runs behind Australia’s first innings score of 474 and would need another 111 runs to avoid a follow-on that should never have been a consideration on a placid batting track.
