With the Kolkata Knight Riders’ practice session getting cut short on Saturday due to heavy rain at the Chepauk in Chennai, the two teams and the fans will have their eyes on the sky come Sunday when KKR take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL final here.
Kolkata and Hyderabad have met twice this season with the Knights having the upper hand on the Sunrisers on both occasions, defeating them in a group stage match and qualifier 1.
What does the weather say about the IPL Final?
Speaking of the weather, the forecast on Sunday indicates good news for cricket lovers with AccuWeather predicting just 1% chance of thunderstorms with the temperature hovering at 32° while the sky will be partly cloudy with 100% cloud cover in the evening.

But in the off chance, the weather does play spoilsport, here are the scenarios which might take place:
Is there a reserve day in case the IPL final cannot be completed on Sunday?
Yes, there is a reserve day if the match cannot be completed on Sunday. If the match is stopped midway and cannot be continued on the original day, the game will resume from the same point from where in had stopped on the reserve day (Monday).

However, before the match goes to the reserve day, the organisers will allow 120 minutes extra for the match to be completed on the original day itself that is Sunday. Failing that, the match will be shifted to Monday.
What happens if the match gets washed out on Monday?
Of the match cannot be completed on Monday as well, the team who finished higher in the points table will be crowned champions. In that case, Kolkata Knight Riders will win the IPL crown for the 3rd time.
