Hangzhou Asian Para Games, Day 4: India’s medal tally crosses 80 for best-ever showing, Sheetal-Rakesh clinch first gold in archery | Cricket-world-cup News

The fourth edition of Asian Para Games officially got underway with medal events from 22 October.India had won 14 medals at the 2010 edition, 33 in 2014 and 72 in 2018. In Guangzhou at the inaugural edition, India had won 1 gold while that number went up to 15 in Indonesia. In Jakarta, India finished 9th overall in the medals tally.
Horically, much like the Asian Games, track and field have contributed most to the India medal tally at the Asian Para Games. Before the 2023 edition, India had won a total of 119 medals and 60 of those came from athletics.———
On Thursday, India officially crossed their best ever medal tally at the Asian Para Games, breaking the mark set in 2018. The medal count stood at 82 at the end of day’s proceedings with 18 gold, 23 silver, 41 bronze. While the total of 82 is the fourth best, India’s gold medal count of 18 put them 8th on the standings currently.
Day 4 of action saw India add 19 medals with 3 gold, 3 silver and 13 bronze. One of the gold medals came from Mixed Team Compound – Open even in archery where Rakesh Kumar and armless archer Sheetal Devi defeated China. Sidhartha Babu added a shooting gold in R6 – Mixed 50m Rifle Prone SH1. Track & field continued to rake in the medals with Sachin Sarjerao Khilari winning gold in Men’s Shot Put-F46.
