Scripting a fresh chapter in their lives, South cinema star Samantha Ruth Prabhu and renowned filmmaker Raj Nidimoru tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the Linga Bhairavi Devi shrine in Sadhguru’s Isha Yoga Centre, Coimbatore, on Monday, December 1. Putting an end to dating rumours that had been circulating for several months, Samantha herself announced their union on social media, sharing a few pictures from the occasion.
A widely famous movie star, known predominantly for her work in the Telugu and Tamil industries, Samantha was previously married to actor Naga Chaitanya, her co-star in her debut film Ye Maaya Chesave (2010). However, the duo parted ways in 2021 after four years of marriage. Naga Chaitanya subsequently tied the knot with Made in Heaven star Sobhita Dhulipala in 2024. Although rumours were rife for the past few months that Samantha, too, had moved on and was dating Raj Nidimoru, they never confirmed anything. However, the two were often spotted together, even at gyms and during special occasions like Diwali. With their union, the l of celebrity couples in the country has received a fresh addition.

Who is Raj Nidimoru?
One half of the filmmaker duo Raj & DK, renowned for their work in movies such as 99 (2009), Shor In The City (2011), Go Goa Gone (2013), Happy Ending (2014), and Stree (2018) and streaming shows like The Family Man, Farzi, Guns & Gulaabs and Citadel: Honey Bunny, Raj Nidimoru was born in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. He met Krishna Dasarakothapalli, alias DK, while the two were pursuing engineering at the same college. Although they briefly moved to the US for software jobs, the duo eventually gave those up to pursue careers in cinema.
Upon their return, they began making shorts to learn the art and craft of filmmaking. Once they were confident enough, Raj and DK made an hour-long film titled Shaadi.com. The positive response this earned prompted them to make their first feature film, the Indian-English romantic comedy Flavors (2003). Although it also made heads turn, the duo had to wait six years to make their proper Bollywood debut with the crime comedy 99. Nonetheless, the two weren’t stubborn about directing their own scripts and also wrote for others. In 2010, they co-wrote the Telugu film Inkosaari. With Shor in the City and Go Goa Gone also receiving much acclaim, Raj and DK became a recognised label in Bollywood.

They also played a key role in the OTT boom in India. Following the massive success of the horror comedy Stree (2018), the Amar Kaushik directorial whose story and screenplay they penned, Raj and DK launched their spy action thriller series The Family Man, starring Manoj Bajpayee and Priyamani, which became a phenomenal success. While they also found success with their subsequent series ventures, such as Farzi, Guns & Gulaabs, and Citadel: Honey Bunny, it was The Family Man that made the duo a nationwide sensation. Interestingly, both The Family Man Season 2 (2021) and Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024) featured Samantha in key roles, suggesting that the romance between her and Raj blossomed across the two projects.
Who is Raj Nidimoru’s first wife Shhyamali De?
Much like Samantha, Raj Nidimoru, too, is entering his second marriage here. He was previously married to Shhyamali De, who, according to The Times of India, worked as an assant director on Aamir Khan’s Rang De Basanti (2006) and Ajay Devgn’s Omkara (2006). She was also associated with the creative side of Raj and DK’s Happy Ending. While the two tied the knot in 2015, NDTV reported, they got divorced in 2022.

According to Daily Jagran, Raj Nidimoru’s net worth is around Rs 85-89 crore (approximately USD 10 million). Samantha, on the other hand, has a net worth of about Rs 101 crore, according to a 2023 Stockgro report.
