Lucknow-born leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari gained the spotlight on Sunday at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam as he made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad against the Delhi Capitals.

Prior to his First-Class debut, Ansari had represented in India during the 2016 Under-19 World Cup where they finished runners-up. The all-rounder featured in two games, scoring 35 runs.
Unlike most others in India’s then Under-19 World Cup squad, Zeeshan didn’t represent his state at under-14 or under-16 levels. When Zeeshan didn’t make it to the age group teams, his father’s patience with his pursuit wore thin. Zeeshan’s joint family was 19-strong and an extra hand at work would be of huge help, instead of being a drain on their finances.
Representing the Meerut Mavericks in the UP T20 League, Ansari emerged as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament last year, recording 24 scalps. The 25-year-old late secured a Rs 40 lakh bid from SRH during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction in Jeddah in November 2024.
Zeeshan has also represented Uttar Pradesh in five FC games, picking up 17 wickets.
