Why Australia’s Alyssa Healy put Virat Kohli at the bottom of Fab Four | Cricket News

The debate about who is the better batter among the fab four among Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, and Joe Root is a never-ending one. Australian women’s team skipper Alyssa Healy said she would put the Indian talisman at the bottom of Fab Four.
“I’m going to put Kohli as fourth. But I rate him as No. 1 in everything else. But if you’re basing it on numbers, Kohli will sit fourth for me. I’m looking at it analytically,” Healy said speaking on the LNR Sport podcast.
“I think about how much cricket he plays and that’s where I look at his stats. And they are remarkable based on the sheer amount of cricket he plays and the pressure he is under,” she added.
Kohli has the lowest Test average among the Fab Four. He is the only player to average less than 50 among the lot (49.15). However, Kohli’s white ball numbers have been remarkable and are far superior to the rest of the three in both ODIs and T20Is.
Healy also compared New Zealand’s Williamson and Kohli. She would point out how Kohli has more support around him with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma but Williamson tends to carry his team on his shoulders.
“Williamson has carried the whole New Zealand team, whereas, for Virat, he is the greatest player in the world, let’s be real. But with him, it’s like someone else is always there. Rohit Sharma can score hundreds. KL Rahul can score a 100.”
With Root closing in on Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time highest Test runs there have also been growing comparisons between Kohli and Root. “In the last short while. Over a long period, Joe Root’s stats are…, well he’s the best England has ever had,” Gilchr said on Club Prairie Fire Podcast.
“Virat scored one of the best tons I’ve seen at the Perth stadium in the first Test match ever played there, that was probably different gravy. I’d probably say Virat,” Gilchr added.
