Why did Pakan fine all-rounder Aamer Jamal PKR 1.3 million for writing ‘804’ on Test jersey? | Cricket News

Pakan all-rounder Aamer Jamal found himself among eight cricketers fined the Pakan Cricket Board (PCB) for multiple code of conduct breaches during the team’s home Test series against England and the following tour to Australia in late 2024.
Jamal’s sanction was the most prominent of the lot with the 28-year-old slammed with a hefty PKR 1.3 million (INR 404,690) fine for wearing a cap that carried a political slogan during an on-field interview in Pakan’s first Test against England in Multan. Jamal was seen sporting a white floppy hat with the number ‘804’ written on it. The number is linked with Pakan’s former Prime Miner and World Cup-winning captain, Imran Khan, who is currently held in the Adiala Jail in Ralwalpindi for a series of corruption charges.
According to reports, the ‘804’ on Jamal’s hat referred to Khan’s jail identification number as a mark of solidarity with the former Pakan captain. Detained since 2023, the 72-year-old received a fresh 14-year sentence in January 2025.

Three other players were also charged PKR 500,000 each for their late arrivals at the team hotel during Pakan’s limited-overs tour to Australia in November 2024.
Pakan also sanctioned their newly appointed T20I captain, Salman Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Abbas Afridi for violating curfew regulations during the team’s tour to South Africa at the start of the year.
PCB’s hefty fines come on the back of nationwide scrutiny after Pakan’s group-stage from the Champions Trophy. Pakan also recorded their lowest T20I total in their first match of the tour to New Zealand on Sunday, suffering a massive nine-wicket defeat.
