Will Kylian Mbappe agree to 300million euros bid from Saudi Arabian club or sit on bench for one year at PSG? | Cricket News

Since the beginning of the summer transfer window, one name has remained constant in the headlines. One name, whose potential move to Saudi Arabia has the ability to ‘break the internet.’ Quirky social media language aside, in a far grimmer reality, PSG star Kylian Mbappe’s proposed move to Al Hilal threatens to break the very fabric of football.
Mbappe and his club Paris Saint Germain have been in a power struggle of epic proportions since the day the French superstar made it clear to PSG that he will not sign a contract extension with them. PSG, meanwhile, had asked Mbappe to sign the new contract July 15 or be transfer led. After nary a response from Mbappe’s side, the French club stayed firm to their words and put the World Cup winning superstar on sale rather than having to lose him for free next summer.

According to various reports, Mbappe’s likely destination would be Real Madrid, the club he had rejected 2 years ago to stay with PSG. Meanwhile, the Bernabeu club has made no comments in the ongoing saga. Seeing the chance to pounce, Al Hilal entered the race to prise Mbappe away from the French capital even if it meant keeping him for just one year. Reports suggest that they have also included a special Real Madrid clause in their eye watering 300 million euros bid. The aforementioned Los Blancos clause will allow Mbappe to leave Saudi in 2024 and join Real. If Mbappe does accept and leaves for Spain after 1 year in the middle-east, it will essentially be the costliest loan spell in the hory of football.

PSG have accepted the offer from Al Hilal but the huge point here is will Mbappe himself go along with it? Mbappe has always dreamt of winning the Champions League, which is one of the key factors that has always governed the rumours of him going to Madrid. If he does indeed go to Saudi, that’s goode to the UCL for at least one year. A second concern rises from the heart of the Spanish capital itself who as mentioned are oddly silent in this whole saga after securing Jude Bellingham for a club-record fee this summer from Borussia Dortmund.

If Mbappe indeed gives the nod to Al Hilal for one year, there is no concrete guarantee that Real Madrid can afford to pay his salary which will be €700m for the one season he stays in the Middle East. The player will have to take a pay cut to go to Madrid or the 14-time Champions League winners will need to offload a lot of players in order to afford their long-term target. To put into context how much of a gap it’ll be, recent signing Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior reportedly earn a little over €400 million per year while their highest earner Toni Kroos makes a little over €468 million.
There are also reports that Mbappe has no intentions of going to the Middle-East at just 24 years of age and would much rather sit out in the PSG bench for one year doing nothing. There are a host of other European clubs interested in the France captain with the names of Arsenal and Tottenham in the mix along with the perpetual Real rumour. He might be tempted to join any one of them but PSG’s rumoured asking price of €150m might be a big hurdle in the negotiations.

Meanwhile, Al Hilal’s offer is lucrative and it’ll help PSG bag a hefty fee but will Mbappe take it? Yes, it’s a lot of money but going to the Middle-East in the prime of his career might not appeal to a player desperate to achieve European glory. The hope of Madrid negotiating this summer is pretty slim due to the amount spent for Bellingham. Plus, if they wait one year, they can have the player for free next summer but will have to risk it all on Mbappe’s decision on Saudi and the problems which will arise if he says yes to the move.
Meanwhile, PSG accepting the Saudi offer means nothing if the player isn’t willing to play ball. There have been instances in football in years past when the clubs have agreed but due to a player’s reluctance on a move, the transfer has broken down. If Mbappe is indeed going to see out his PSG contract just sitting on the sidelines for one whole year, the club will be powerless to stop him.
So, it’s all up to Mbappe now. Will he play hard ball or will he play football the next one year?
