3,135 patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals

BHOPAL: There are 3,135 patients in different hospitals in the state. Of them, 1,315 are in the intensive care units, 1, 227 on oxygen-supported beds and 593 are on general beds.

The number of patients undergoing treatment in home isolation is 3, 936. These figures came up at a meeting Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held with the officials in Mantralay on Wednesday.

Chouhan reviewed the situation arising out of the second wave of the pandemic and the arrangements for it.

Chouhan said that the coronavirus was on the wane and the number of new cases had fallen below 500.

The weekly positivity rate in 50 districts was below 2% and the state was on the 23rd position in terms of corona cases in the country, he added.

Not only that the recovery rate had reduced to 98%, he further said.

Now that the second wave of the pandemic began to drift away, everyone should brace for the third wave, so that even if it hit the state, its impact would be nominal, the Chief Minister said.

According to Chouhan, vaccination is the only way to keep the virus at bay, so vaccination drive should be vigorously launched.

Medical Education Minister Vishwash Sarang, chief secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, additional chief secretary Mohd Suleman and other officials were present at the meeting.
