‘Without Rohit Sharma, India does not get this good’: Michael Vaughan on why Indian skipper is his player of the tournament | Cricket-world-cup News
India will take on Australia in the final of the 2023 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. One of the major reasons behind India’s success in the tournament has been the starts given to the team while batting skipper Rohit Sharma in the powerplay. Rohit has looked to play attacking cricket right from ball one, leading to the side having blering starts.
Former England skipper Michael Vaughan was so impressed the approach of the Indian skipper that he heaped praise on him.
“I would go as far as to say he is my player of the tournament … I believe that without Rohit all this does not happen, and India does not get as good,” Vaughan wrote in his column for The Telegraph.

“We will not judge based on a couple of poor shots. All these guys have lots of potential, they can play these shots whenever they want and we want to keep encouraging them to go out there and do it often,” Rohit said earlier this year when India played Australia in a bilateral series and they have stuck to the same method in the World Cup which has reaped rewards.
Vaughan was also complimentary of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. “Kohli is in stupendous form and to score 50 ODI hundreds is extraordinary, and Iyer has become a magnificent player.”
Kohli is the top run scorer of the current World Cup with 711 runs at an average of 101.57. Iyer on the other hand made 526 runs at an average of 75.14.
