A day before Pakan try to stay alive in the World Cup in a must-win tie against New Zealand, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan took a dig at the Men in Green, saying that he was ‘worried’ because “it’s been too calm this last couple of days” in the lead up to the match, indicating that Babar Azam’s men need a controversy to win the match.
“If you go back to the hory of the World Cup, the World Cup doesn’t start until there’s controversy with Pakan. Until someone falls-out… I don’t understand why don’t they sack everyone the day the tournament starts off. Everyone resigns… they’d win every World Cup. What are they waiting for?” he said in a video that he quote tweeted on Friday.
The video in question was from a recent chat which the Englishman had with Adam Gilchr on the latter’s YouTube channel. In his quote tweet, Vaughan stated, “I worry about Pakan tomorrow .. it’s been too calm this last couple of days .. they need someone to resign today or leak a what’s app message ..”

This was a not so subtle dig that have engulfed the Pakan team over the last few days where chief selector Inzamam ul Haq stepped down from his post over allegations that he was also a shareholder in a prominent player management company. Vaughan also gave his take on the issue, jokingly saying, “When they gave him the chairmanship of selectors, I am pretty sure he would have been related to Imam ul Haq.”
A few days ago, Shahid Afridi and Waqar Younis had also lashed out at a Pakan new channel and its journals after it aired a purported WhatsApp conversation with Pakan cricket captain Babar Azam. The chats were said to be between Babar and PCB’s Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer.
Pakan will look to put these issues to rest when they take on New Zealand on Saturday in Bengaluru.
